The Institute of Neuropathology at Universitätsklinikum Erlangen conducts a histological and molecular genetic examination of the epileptogenic tissue that was removed during surgery.
In May 2003, a neuropathological epilepsy register was set up in Erlangen for the purpose of systematic research into the causes of drug-resistant, focal epilepsy and the establishment of internationally recognised histopathological criteria.
